The Edit| January 2016

Hey y’all! And welcome to my new blog series, The Edit. Each month, I’ll compile a style board of the things I’m currently obsessed with. You’ll find anything from home decor to beauty products, clothing and anything else I fancy.
The January Edit

1. #GIRLBOSS: This book is nothing new, I’ve read it three times since purchasing it 2 summers ago. With the start of a new year, I decided to read it again and thought if you haven’t, maybe I could convince you to give it a shot? It motivated me in several aspects of my life and I hope it will do the same for you!
2. Baja Throw Blanket: The only thing better than coming home, slipping into your sweats and curling up on the couch with a cozy throw is coming home, slipping into your cozy sweats and curling up with a cute cozy throw! My house before I moved in with B was a total bachelorette pad. Pink, Aqua, Gold, if it was girly, I had it! When we decided to take the next step and move in together, I knew my current decor wasn’t going to be an option, nor did I really want it to be, so I went for a more eclectic, neutral palette. This throw blanket would add the perfect amount of “balance” to our gender-friendly decor.
3. Tarte Clay Cream Shadow: Ive used nothing but the Urban Decay Naked & Naked 2 shadows for the last 5 or so years. Don’t get me wrong, I swear by them and would probably never give them up, but I’ve been itching to try something new.  I wore a lot of cream shadows in high school and I liked them (the texture of them first being applied took some getting used to), but I really wanna give these a try. Plus, they’re on major sale ($30.00- whaaaattt?!?!), so why the hell not?
4. Free People Sweater: My weakness? Sweatshirts. Yep, I’m like a grown up version of every Southern sorority girl, most days, I look homeless.
Leggings? Check.
A top big enough to fit your boyfriend? Check.
Boots? Check.
I swear, if I don’t have “Big Girl Plans” (dinner, function, etc…), that’s my uniform. Sans makeup as well. And on a good day, I’ll brush my hair. Kidding. Kind of. Ok not really. Anyway, I say all of that to say can you believe this is a sweatshirt? Naturally, I need this. Because maybe then I’ll look less like a teen mom in carline.
5. Smashbox Contour Stick Trio: I currently use and love the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, but really want to try the cream. And while they make a cream kit, it’s in palette form and I can’t help but think a stick would be easier to work with. I spotted this about a week ago at Ulta, but I was in a rush so didn’t have time to inquire about it, but they’re really good about showing you how to use products and letting you test them, so I plan on trying to get back by there soon. I’ll update ‘ya on what I think.
6. Schutz “Kija” Heel: I need another pair of shoes like I need a hole in my head, but I just can’t help it! Shoes have always been my weakness. I’ve always said, “I may end up homeless and living under a bridge, but dammit, I’ll have cute shoes!” I know it’s January so there isn’t much need for sandals, but you’d be surprised how many times you could wear them now and then carry them over to Spring. I like to keep my outfit simple though (think skinny jeans and a classic white tee) and use a “funky” shoe to mix things up a bit. If these are a bit much for you, try these. I own and love them. Pretty much lived in them.
7. Toby Heart Ginger Trench Coat: I hate calling it (or anything I like for that matter) a trench coat. I just think it sounds like something “the perpetrator”  would wear. Like you can open it up and have a tiny mobile arsenal on each side of you. Anyway, it’s Winter and you gotta bundle up, so better to bundle cute. This piece would be great for layering, too.
8. Alice + Olivia “Eric” Pants: Your grandmother called, and she wants her pants back! HA, jk, these are NOT your grandmothers polyester britches. These are perfect for work, perfect for play and will work for all 4 seasons. Menswear trend? NAILED IT!
9. Stuart Weitzman “Rockerchic” Boots: That whole Southern sorority thing I was talking about? Yea, because that’s why.  And because I love them simply for being shoes. I feel like they’re a great investment for everyday wear.
10. Rebecca Minkoff “Regan” Satchell: I love RM bags for several reasons.  The leather is super soft, they’re very durable and they’re extremely affordable. I always go for a neutral, oversized bag and this one would be a great addition to any wardrobe.
11. Sperry Duck Boots: Mainly because Alabama has gotten confused lately and thinks it’s Seattle.
12. Stella McCartney “Days of the Week” panties: I saw these and immediately had flash backs to being 6 years old and having days of the week panties. I mean, I don’t wear full backs, but if  I was going to, I’d definitely want to be able to remember what day it was. Added bonus, men think full backs are sexy. Well, B does anyway. The real added bonus is it comes with a little dresser thing! How cute is that?!?!
I hope y’all liked the first installment of “The Edit”. Email me your thoughts/ questions and anything else you’d like me to touch on in the future!
