In yesterday’s post, I styled this sweatshirt in a typical way: leisurely. Today, I wanted to show y’all my favorite way to wear a sweatshirt: dressed up!

It’s no secret I’m a sucker for sweats, I live in them during the colder months. Hello homeless looking Jaime, and I don’t care. I buy a new (or three) grey ones from Wal-Mart every year and I’m not ashamed at all. They’re so easy to throw on and go. I like adding a statement necklace or earring to jazz it up. It tends to confuse people, but in a good way (I hope anyway). Not that doing that is very different, but to the ones that don’t care much about fashion, it seems groundbreaking to them. Or laughable, I’ve experienced both.

But think about it from my perspective.

I work a day job where if I wear make-up, do my hair, or “dress up”, I get “Whaattt? Why are you so dressed up?”. Often I’m leaving work, rushing home to change, and speeding to an engagement where I need to look somewhat presentable.

I’ve learned that by wearing a sweatshirt and jeans/ leggings, that I don’t have to get called out at work, I can put on a statement necklace or earrings in my car and head strait to where I need to go and even have time to grab a coffee on the way!

So we’re clear, I’m not afraid to dress up for work, but when the popular option is not to, well, does that need an explanation?

Moving on to the shoes. I have a confession to make: I never where heels. Wedges, yes, but actual heels? Not so much. Plus, I already have man calves, no need to build them up even more.

During my college years they’re all I wore! Do y’all remember the Jessica Simpson pumps with the rounded toe? Yep, went through three pairs. After I had AC, I think I just got out of the habit of wearing them daily and now they’re not comfortable to me. I’ll wear them for short periods of time, like to a dinner or an event, but other than that, it’s flats or wedges for me. These booties I fell in love with and had to have. I’ve worn them a lot, but not as an everyday shoe. Truth be told, they’re not very comfortable. I used a boot stretcher to help, and it did, but not enough for everyday wear. I have wider feet though, so pointed toe shoes are typically uncomfortable for me. If you don’t have wide feet, you’ll be fine as far as comfort goes.

Do any of you have a lazy go-to piece that you love to put a spin on? I’d love to know!
