The Girlfriend Gala is an annual Gadsden charity event sponsored by United Way to benefit the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library was created to help ensure that children would have access to good reading material, regardless of circumstance, and to instill a love of reading in young children. You can sign your child up here (my daughter participated in this program and she lit up with excitement every month when her book arrived! ).
Each year, the Girlfriend Gala has a different theme. You choose your table decor based on such theme. This year’s theme was “Welcome to the Big Top”. We chose Brittany Spear’s Circus album. We all dressed up as different characters she has played and had a tv at our table playing her most popular songs/videos. I was (reluctantly) the “school girl” from her first hit, “Baby One More Time”, but I must admit it was fun playing dress up!!!!
They announce the following year’s theme at the event, and they’ve chosen “Meet Me In Paris” for 2016. While I can’t say what we are doing yet, I can say that you don’t want to miss out!
