Simple Layering For Fall

Happy Fall, y’all! Gosh, I have been dying to say that. It cooled down drastically Friday, but I wasn’t convinced that it would stay that way and I didn’t want to get my hopes up, but I think we’re good to go Alabama! Now if the leaves would just change colors…

Fall is my favorite season for many reasons (and I’m a total summertime girl!). No more swamp ass, the gorgeous foliage, but mostly, layering! I’m probably jumping the gun on layering, as it’s only in the mid 60’s, but I digress. I mean, it went from 92 to 64 in a week, this girl got excited!

If you’re just wanting to dip your toe in the layering pool, the easiest way to do that is with striped shirts. I swear, I own 20 basic striped tee’s if I own one. This one is the Artist Tee from J. Crew, but it’s a couple years old. It’s a bit more of a fitted style, so go up a size if you prefer a more relaxed fit. Another great brand for basic layering shirts is Madewell. I have a few of their turtlenecks and I really like them. You’ll want to go up a size in them, as well.

Since I went all Mother Winter on my top half, I opted for something lighter on the bottom half. These Bp Moto leggings (last styled here) are nearly as cool as wearing shorts because the fabric is so thin and light (they’re full coverage though!).

This sweater (available in Petite, Regular, and Maternity!) is definitely my favorite recent purchase. I saw it on Loft’s website and immediately bought it. I love all of the tiny pops of color and the circle hem. Circle hem sweaters are perfect for layering because you not only get the contrasting look on the sleeves, but on the bottom as well. I knew it would pair perfectly with my Artist Tee, and when I got it in and saw the olive in it I knew exactly how I wanted to style the entire ensemble.

How do y’all layer up for Fall?
