An Unlikely Color Combo I’m Loving + Influencing Others

Have you ever been sorting laundry or organizing your closet and thought to yourself, “Hey, I think that would look cute together!”.

That was what happened here.

I was sorting through packages and happened to lay this cardigan next to this layering tank and I immediately stripped and tried them on together. I instantly loved them and knew I wanted to use a playful shoe to pull the entire look together.

I like to give my blog looks a pre-trial, if you will, so I wore this look to pick up AC from a play date. The neighbor said “cute outfit” on my way in and the mom friend said ” I love your outfit!”. While I’m 100% sure that I am not the first to pair pink with mustard, I did leave with a little pep in my step and knew that I wanted to shoot this look.

I’d made a note in my phone “mustard and salmon” a couple of years ago while watching Pretty Little Liars. Aria was wearing the color combo and I loved it. While this tank is pink and not salmon, I think it’s funny how much inspiration we gather from TV. Or anything we consume really.

For example, Aria was wearing a crop top and high wasted trousers. I could never pull off either, together or separately, but, in general, the colors together stood out to me enough that I made a note in my iPhone and it managed to trigger my inspiration nearly three years later!

That’s the thing with influencing. It can happen immediately or it can subconsciously live in the back of your mind for years, and then tap you on the shoulder just when you need it. I think that’s why I find it so important now to be conscious with the content you put out there, with the people and things that you associate with, and especially with the kindness and energy you put off. It can be something as simple and irrelevant as a color combo that you’re remembered by or as important as the smile and hello that you extended to the man you pass on the street.

The influence you have, even if you feel as if you don’t have any at all, impacts someone, so make sure you use it wisely.
