Good evening y’all! How was everyones weekend? Mine was pretty laid back, which is always appreciated. We had our Service Guild board retreat Saturday morning and we were able to get the year laid out and get a lot of exciting things planned. School starts back tomorrow and I’m not ready for the 6:30 am wakeup call yet!

The title of this post is pretty self explanatory, but humor me and allow me to elaborate. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen on my stories that I’m finally starting to dive in to finishing the Shoffett. There’s a highlight reel on my profile page if you haven’t seen it and are interested.

Anyway, I started (and almost finished) insulating it last week, and let me tell you, that is no easy feat. I got insulation in my eyes, which caused them to nearly swell shut and ooze. I thought I was going to go blind, ha. By the second day, thankfully, they were back to normal.

While insulating the lofts, my knees took quite the beating. I didn’t even realize it until I got in the bath tub that night and screamed. Literally, I screamed. Looked down, and it was as if the first layer of my skin was gone. I put Neosporin on them all week and they’re almost heeled now.

As far as my hands go, the staple gun did a number on the part of my palms near my thumbs. They were raw and sore all week. Well, my entire body was sore, so I need a harsher word for what my hands were. I was almost finished when I just burst into tears because I was hurting so bad.

I realized that I’m not half the man I thought I was, and I have a new found respect for carpenters. That stuff is hard! It’ll all be worth it when it’s complete, but it’s really hard to focus on that right now because there is still so much left to do.

I started ordering some furnishings this past week, too. I ordered this lamp shade from Anthropologie for my desk. From Wayfairthis office chair, this rug and this sitting chair. I’ll link them in a widget below. I found my desk at Target

I found the most gorgeous shelving brackets from Anthropologie, but they don’t make them in the 12” size (sigh), so I’m still searching for something similar for the shoe shelves. I may order one of the 9” ones to see if it will work because they’ll be so perfect for the space!

Thank y’all for reading and I hope you all have a great day!
